The The first applications were submitted by Krasta Auto – they will start with two BMWs. Audi also registered the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron and the Audi A6 Avant e-tron. Veho will strive for victories with Mercedes. Renault 5 - European Car of the Year also will be present. Several teams registered Ignitis, ABB, Telia, Stelauto, and Avion Express. Magnus will try to repeat last year's class victory with the Porsche Macan. This time it will be a partnership with the Porsche Club Ladies, and the crew will be made up only of women, car enthusiasts, members of a community that combines driving pleasure, sports excitement and strong female energy. The Nissan NISMO team will start with the Ariya and the Vilnius City Municipality crews that have been participating in the competition since the very first year will return to the competition.
Eimantas Balta, Head of the Electric Mobility Department at Ignitis ON, was pleased with the expanded geography of the competition to the Baltic States. "Participants will have a good opportunity to try out not only the convenient charging of an electric car in the Ignitis ON network in any Baltic country, but even more importantly - there will be no need for separate mobile apps - one of our apps will be enough, which will also work well everywhere without the need for additional actions," comments E. Balta
For the first time, the team of the insurance company If will participate in the competition. If has become one of the main partners of the competition. And this is not surprising, they have insured all Ignitis ON charging stations. “Our priority is solutions that are one step ahead. Sustainable mobility most clearly reflects that a responsible future is possible through togetherness, innovation and continuous improvement. The Ignitis ON electric car competition combines these key principles. We started with ourselves – the company’s entire fleet consists only of electric cars, so, as they say, we are taking a firm step towards this friendship,” said Rasa Skunčikienė, Head of the Baltics Communications Group at If.
Every year, more unusual electric vehicles appear in the competition. There was an electric glider, a motorcycle, a bus, a truck, etc. This year, we will see one of the first electric concrete mixer trucks in the Baltics at the start. It will be presented by Heidelberg Materials Lietuva, the first to purchase and use in daily operations 3 electric concrete mixers weighing 32 tons and having a 350kWh battery, which allows them to work all day without recharging.
Registration for the competition will continue until all 60 places are filled. Lithuania is allocated 30 places, Latvia and Estonia 15 each. This year, there will be two races at the same time. Participants in the “Business” class will try to reach the summer capital of Estonia as efficiently as possible, choosing a shorter route and not turning away from it to admire memorable places. In the “Tourism” class, those crews that will drive the most kilometers in 7 hours will win. Only standard electric cars can participate in the competition, it takes place on public roads, and the marshals are particularly strict about ensuring that traffic rules are not violated.
